The limbs of the person tell different parts of depression. The left side shows the violence that a teen inflicts on his or herself. The scars are from self-harm with a razor, an activity in which many teens unfortunately participate. Words like violence, soreness and bullies inhabit the left arm. There is also a reference to Jared, a boy who had committed suicide as a result of being bullied.
The right arm represents a different part of depression, the part that brings hope and light. It is the arm that reaches out for help. Communication, support and treatment are all crucial to a teen getting better. Words like therapy, medicine, meditation, treatment, and counseling can be found here.
The legs have the actions of a depressed teen. One common quality of all teens with depression is loss of interest. Instead of getting involved with their lives, teens want to simply lie in a dormant state. Hiding from their fears is also very apparent, as teens tend to skip school, refrain from activities, and spend much time in solitude. Along with running away from stressful situations, teens also may hide the fact that they are depressed. A teen could deny it or simply not seek help for fear of being judged.
